Soon!

Hello! Sorry for the lack of updates! mushycat will be all nice and shiny soon, and I'm going to be making shirts again! So please be patient. : )

Well done US, I miss you.

Within the confines of the US's de facto two-party system, Obama's win is of course wonderful. Scotland is five hours ahead of the east coast of the US and I found I couldn't sleep at all until I knew that he had won (a bit after four in the morning).

All the papers here have Obama on their covers of course, we picked up a copy of the Guardian and I read the front page while we were in a queue. I felt quite homesick, I have been quite a lot, but even moreso in that moment.

CA's prop 8 is a disappointment of course, and a full Democrat majority in Congress would have been nice, but still.

mushycat in Scotland...

I sent in my absentee ballot the other day... from rainy, blustery, Scotland. Where I'm living now! Yes, I've moved to Scotland and so has mushycat.

It feels very strange for me to type that, I can't believe I'm out of the US. But I am, and even though I feel a bit homesick, it's just another aspect of the positive relationship I'm in.

Anyhoo, mushycat in Scotland. Things will be much the same in terms of ordering. Shipping won't actually take much longer, but the price is a bit higher. To offset that, I'm halving the shipping price if you order 10 or more buttons. I think that works out pretty well.

Right now you can still send in checks and money orders (in US funds) to my old PO box address, though I prefer electronic payments via Google Checkout or paypal.

For the moment I'm not taking any shirt, undies, or bumpersticker orders. I have to get that all sorted here, suppliers and everything. It'll take a while!

Back to voting - please do! I think there's no way that McCain can possibly win this election, but there's no sense in leaving it to any sort of uncertainty!

Shirts and Undies on Hiatus!

I'm putting shirt and undie making on hiatus for a while, the shopping cart won't let you add them for now. Button and sticker orders are on as always!

New Buttons!

oh look! New Buttons!

I've never asked this before...

Hi everyone! This is going to be an unusual post. I'm trying to make a big change in my life, something that will give me hope for a happy future. I've been living my life without that hope for the most part, just trying to get by and do what I can. Now, everything is different. It's wonderful, but daunting.

I'd like to ask for a little bit of your help. As you may know, mushycat has always been a word-of-mouth-only endeavor. I've never advertised. Now I'm thinking about doing it, but only in rad magazines like Bitch or Venus. Before I do that though, I'd like to ask for you to tell a friend or two about mushycat. If you like what I do and how I do it, you've probably done that already, and I thank you. I'd love it though, if you could help get the word out a bit more. It would mean the world to me actually.

Thanks to all of you. Wish me luck!

Back

I'm back! I'm working on catching up on orders now, thanks to everyone for being patient!

I'll be right back

I'm going to be generally unavailable until the 14th, you can still place orders but I might not process them until then. I'll be checking my email though, so if you need to contact me please do.

Care Bear

I heard a sound outside the other night so I peered through the blinds. For a second I thought a carpet had blown into the backyard. That didn't make any sense of course, and then I realized it was a fraking black bear!

It was trying to get into my bird seed container (and it had no problem doing so!). After awhile it noticed me trying to take its photo and ran off into the night. I'd heard that there were bears around but I'd never seen one, and I certainly didn't expect one to come around. It was beautiful though and I wouldn't mind seeing it again (from the safety of the house of course!). It was at least 6' long and it stood a bit before running off.
A smile would be nice

I'm not sure what happened with this photo, it just came out that way. I thought it was kind of nifty.

Except maybe for the big glowing forehead. But look, tofu kitty!

Disco!

I have a little disco ball hanging in the living room (doesn't everyone?) and it's always a nice surprise to walk in there at just the right time of day to see the sun shining through the skylight onto it...

oh how I love winter

I had tickets to see Eddie Izzard last night in NYC but the roads were so horrible when I headed out that I had to come right back. The car was slipping and sliding all over the place. I love you Eddie but I wasn't going to risk death for some (probably a lot of) laughs. Oh well.

Then I get up this morning and the power is out. It's still out, I'm writing this on my phone. It's also raining heavily and I had to go clear the waterways...

There's no heat but it's not that cold. The cats are keeping me (er, themselves) warm though. Patches snores!

This is my long-winded way of telling you all that I won't be making it to the post office today. ^__^

Don't worry, I won't keep you waiting long!

Just a reminder - Shirt and undie orders take me 1-4 weeks to send out, so please be patient. I make each and every order myself, especially for you. I don't keep a stock of pre-made stuff on a shelf to ship, to me that would just feel wrong and retail-y. I know everyone wants fast shipping and instant gratification, but some things take time to be done right. I pull a squeegee as quickly as I can!

It may not really matter in the end, but I think there's a huge difference between making things "to sell" and making things explicitly for someone. The former would make me feel hollow, so that's not the way I do things.
