technology will not save us from our own stupidity
I get a little annoyed when people justify messed-up short-term energy policy (or lots of other things) by stating that they're hoping for a technological breakthrough in the near future. That's akin to hoping to win the lotto to pay for next month's rent, and then sitting back and doing nothing but buying a ticket.
